Phil Coates, the Senior Client Services Manager at award winning recruitment and professional services consultancy Primary Care Professionals, was been selected as one of the nation’s top three finalists for the Nationwide ‘Service Leaver of the Year’ Award.
The Nationwide (Building Society) Resettlement Awards exist to celebrate the achievements of Service Leavers who have successfully progressed through the transition from life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian and to acknowledge the efforts of organisations offering support to the Service Leaver during this transition.
Phil served in the Royal Navy for 23 years and worked within the primary care environment for most of his career, serving on board Ships, shore establishments within the UK, local foreign service in the last functioning Royal Naval Hospital – RNH Gibraltar and further afield in Afghanistan. In February 2013, he was seconded to the Royal Navy of Oman, conducting a review of the provision of primary care at sea for the entire fleet of the Omani Navy, making recommendations in order to enhance the level of care provided at sea. He ended his career at Northwood HQ where he was Practice Manager.
Phil says “Over the last five years, my spare time has been dedicated to achieving higher level academic qualifications prior to my leaving the RN, I obtained a BA (Hons) in Leadership and Management with the University of Northumbria, a PGDip in Strategic Management and Leadership with Stratford Business School and earlier this year, I gained an MBA with Distinction from the University of Northampton.
“I joined Primary Care Professionals in September as Senior Engagement Manager, a role which sees me visit the interim GPs we have placed in practices, providing support and guidance where necessary to ensure they are afforded every opportunity to develop their careers whilst delivering a safe and efficient service for patients. I also liaise with Practice Managers to ensure the GPs are given the necessary induction and that they are aware of my role.
“The decision to join Primary Care Professionals was easy, during my interview with the CEO Tawhid Juneja , it was clear he is very passionate about Primary Care in the wider arena and his enthusiasm was infectious! The flexibility of my role and the opportunity to develop the team of Engagement Managers is exciting and something which I am relishing. “
Tawhid Juneja, the CEO and Founder of Primary Care Professionals says” We couldn’t feel prouder of Phil as this is such a prestigious award to even be nominated for. The fact that he is in the top three of service leaders in the UK across all of the armed forces is a testament to his talent and achievements. Even before we knew he was up for this award we recognised that we are lucky to have him at Primary Care Professionals.”
